West Coast Solutions Announces Role on the Lazuli Space Observatory

West Coast Solutions is proud to announce its participation with Raytheon, an RTX business, developing advanced thermal management, precision control systems, and auto-alignment technologies for the Lazuli Space Observatory. The project is part of the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Observatory System, a high-visibility initiative advancing next-generation astrophysics at Schmidt Sciences.

As part of this effort, WCS is developing the integrated Modular Processing Control System (MPCS), including electronics for fine steering mirrors and the fully integrated end-to-end thermal control system for the Lazuli telescope. “This program is a great example of the work that can get accomplished when a traditional prime partners with a small company,” said Michael Darlington, Principal Electrical Engineer at WCS. “Raytheon has been incredibly helpful with supply chain assistance, helping WCS source components to meet the quick program timeline.”

This partnership reflects the lean, high-performance approach WCS has built since its founding in 2015, now applied at the scale of world-class space hardware.
